i'm looking for a hotel recommendation in brussels for 3 women to share 1 room. first time visit to the city for all of us. would like to be in the city. room for $150 or under. looking for a clean, centrally located hotel, but don't need many amenities, though breakfast would be great.
your recommendations are appreciated. |

The prices vary incredibly here - theough I presume since you mention 2 days you mean a weekend - which is generally much cheaper in brussels.
For your price, you might like the Novotel near the Grand Place which can come in around that much. You can be lucky and get many hotels for that much - but thats for a double - I presume they will charge you for the third person. Also try the Hotel Windsor, which is very central and does some amazing rates. Also try the Metropole, which is a little on the shabby side but famous. The nicest area is around the Sablon - here you can try the Jolly Hotel - but this has had some bad reviews but the location is unsurpassed. Put your dates into hrs.de to get an overview. Breakfast is usually extra. |
The weekend rate for a triple at Hotel Atlas is 115E. (we have stayed here once before and will again this April).

The Novotel Grand'Palace is a very well located and clean, if ho-hum, 3* value. You don't say what day of week or time of year you plan to be there, however I stayed here on a summer weekend for under 40 EUR. I did not make a reservation ahead of time, I simply went to the tourist information office 3 blocks from Central station and had them book the room for me. There were many, many rooms from which to choose at roughly one third the usual rates.
If you will be in Brussels during summer or on a weekend, my recommendation would be to arrive without reservations and just have the TI office book your room. You will have many centrally located hotels to choose from at much lower prices than you will get if you book ahead. |
You may also want to check out another Novotel hotel in Brussels, the newer Novotel Brussels Centre Tour Noire in the St. Catherine area. I stayed there recently. The rooms are clean and large, and the buffet breakfast was immense and wonderful. You can check with Accor Hotels to see if they are offering any special rates for the time of your stay at this hotel and whether any rates include breakfast.

We stayed at the Best Western Carrefour d'europe.
It was around 155E including breakfast. Not only a nice hotel but excellent location. Less than 5 minutes from the train station as well as Grand Place, etc. |
thanks for everyone's input. i'm running into one of two problems - either rooms are booked, or for 3 people they are over $200. would like to still find something conveniently located for walking to many sights.
any other options? check-in: may 8 out: may 10. thanks! |
Hotel la Madeleine has triples available for your dates at 159E ($206) per night.
http://www.hotel-la-madeleine.be That's a budget hotel... I don't know what you might get for less, or you'll need to stay in a less central area. At least responding will raise your post up... |
Hotel Bristol Stephanie (5*, Avenue Louise) is showing €180 ($228) a night for your dates. I've stayed there - excellent.

Actually, on www.hotels.de you can book a triple at the Bristol for 155€ per night on your dates. Breakfast excluded, but right on the other side of the Ave. Louise is Le Pain Quotidien, a popular breakfast spot. There are several other cafes serving breakfast nearby.

Try www.hotelgrandecloche.com, I just booked a triple room in late March for 90 Euro a night and it includes taxes AND breakfast
|
A possibility is Hotel Vendome.

While in Brussels for Christmas we got a very good rate at the Manos Premier Hotel, a 5star hotel close to Avenue Louise which we thoroughly reccomend. You may also check their sister property, Manos Stephanie at the same area.

Dress warmly - it is always cold in Brussels. Take a day to visit Brugge (take the train), Venice of the north. It can be a lot of walking but it's a fascinating place for a couple of tourists.
|
I don't think it's always cold in Brussels. It can be unpredictable and highly changeable. Early May can be cool and wet or surprisingly warm and sunny (as it was in 2003), or both in the same week, depending on the mood of Mother Nature.

thanks threerohdes! i booked grande cloched for 90 euro/night, including breakfast!
|
Well done! Hope you survive in that area!
|
I'm following this for a future trip - Lawchick - is the Grande Cloched hotel in a bad neighborhood? Thanks
|
There are better neighbourhoods.
Why I am a little annoyed is that in many circumstances people like to take advice from others who have either never been to a place or been here once, rather than those who live in the place. |
