Brussels for 5 hour plane layover

Will be arriving on an Int'l flight from the USA around 7:40 on Sat., Oct. 28. What can I do until my Brussels Airline flight leaves for Venice at 4:00 p.m.? Is there transportation to the tourist area from the airport? Any help is appreciated.

Looks like 8 hours and 20 minutes. :-)

You should have plenty of time to take the train to the Central Station and walk around the Grand Place and view the Manikin Pis. ((b))

Budman,
Thank you, I was counting the time to get through customs, the hour prior to boarding my plane to Venice, and travel time on the train or bus. I will certainly enjoy going into the area that you mentioned if I am not too bleary eyed from the International flight. I appreciate you responding.

There are some Brussels experts on this board that could give you more details. It's been a while, and I'm not sure of the train schedules. ((b))

We just recently had a layover in Brussels (that turned into an overnight, but thats another story alltogether!). The train station is on the lower level of the airport, and its a quick 20 minute train ride to Central Station. From there its a pleasure to walk around. Definitely head to Grand Place...even more beautiful than in pictures. And you have more than enough time to grab lunch at the many great cafes and restaurants around the area.
