Brussels for 4 days
 

We have 4 days in Brussels in October We actually have 3 full days . Looking for medium price hotel close to sightseeing and transportation. We expect to go to Bruges. How far is it and how easy to get there? Should we stay overnight in Bruges? Any restaurants, museums that are a must in this short time?

This has no meaning. State a budget in Euros.

It took 10 seconds to learn that Bruges is an hour-long train ride from Brussels.

Look for a hotel near to Central Station - that is the best area for tourists. You will also find many (cheaper) hotels around Bruxelles- Midi and Bruxelles-Nord but they are slightly undesirable areas. As an example, Le Meridien is just across from Bruxelles-Central.

If you are there across a weekend, you could also look for a hotel in the EU district (as an example, Hotel Leopold; nearest metro Trône). Slightly out of the way but guaranteed cheaper on weekends as they are empty of business travellers. The neighbourhood may be a little barren, but safe.

Yes, it's easy to get to Bruges from Brussels; you could do it as a day trip.

Museums in Brussels - whatever you do, please see the Horta Museum. Victor Horta was an important architect designing in the Art Nouveau style, and he did his whole house in this style in exquisite detail. Many of the neighbourhoods in Brussels are Art Nouveau, but this house is a jewel.

You might also think of visiting some of Brussels' markets; the big one at Gare du Midi on a Sunday morning (middle eastern flavour), the antiques market at the Sablon on Saturdays, the Saturday / Sunday morning markets at Place Flagey (small artisan market); the flea market at Place du Jeu de Balles (daily until 2pm).
