RUBY 99 That's Belgian fries NOT French fries!!!>
Well in reality they are frenched fries - the name 'french' in french fries having zero to do with the country France but with the way taters are cooked - the frenched way thus french fries. The U.S. Congress was thus ignorant of this when they re-named french fries 'freedom fries' in the House cafeteria during the Gulf War when the French refused to join the Crusade. |
What does 'frenched' mean in regard to frites? I have heard of frenched lamb shanks, where the meat is scraped back off the leg, but never 'frenched fries'.

Where does the term frenched fries come from.?
I never heard of this before. What happens to fries when they are"frenched."? |
Do not forget the breads and pastries, they are world class as well.
In May we stayed at the Hotel Bloom Rue Royal 250 A little out of the way, but hip and modern. |
I just found this article which talks about 'frenching' (cutting in long thin strips). But it sounds like it comes from the people who invented frites anyway... good article.
