Brunello or Chianti wine tours?

We only have time for one of the two.I like the idea of being picked up and not having to worry about driving so for our late June 2007 trip we decided to go the tour route.Any advice on which of the two may be more worthwile based on the vineyard, close by neighboring sites etc?

Where are you staying? If in Chianti region or Brunello region will depend upon which one of the two you should go.

I can't help you with a tour/driver. There are lots of recommendations on this site and try slowtrav.com. The Chianti region is very nice along with the wines.

Personally I would go for the Brunello. Maybe a tour around the Montacino area. The Barolo's in the piedmont area were outstanding as well.

We did a private tour of Altessino outside of Montalcino. The owner kindly showed us around and gave us the history. It was quite special. The winery is located a few miles outside of Montalcino. You could combine a tour of the Monte Oliveto Maggiore Monastary with the wine tour.

Here is a link to the winery

And here is a useful link to others in the area
