Brugges to Normandy Coast?

Has anyone driven this itinerary? TY!

Well - that's hardly an itinerary - it's just a drive - only takes about 3 hours from Brugges to Rouen - or 4 1/2 hours or so to Bayeaux. You can get all the info you want on mappy.com.

Not sure what other info you want.

Not sure exactly what you're asking or which part of Normandy you are heading for? For a lot of the journey you aren't by the coast. It would take a lot longer than 4 1/2 hrs if you want to see the coast.
I've driven from Calais to Caen many times along the toll road and that 2 1/3 t 3 hours. It's a fast road but a lot of it isn't very scenic.

Should have been more specific.
We are thinking of taking a daytrip to the WWII sites in Normandy.
Is this doable from Brugges?
TY

Not really. You're talking about 8 hours of driving time - leaving you very little time to see anything there - even in you go in May/June when the days are very long. If you try in the fall or winter you would have no daylight hours there at all unless you left at 4 am.

You don't need to go all the way to Normandy to see WWII sites. Significant battles took place right in Belgium itself. Bastogne, in the heart of the Ardennes, is one such place. Bastogne is under 3 hours from Brugges. Still a bit far for a daytrip.

On the other hand, you are less than an hour from Ieper (Ypres) which was a critical site during WWI. To really gain an appreciation of how WWII developed, a look at the preceding war is helpful. There is a fabulous museum "In Flanders Fields" museum in Ieper/Ypres, itself a pretty town.
