Brugge Hotels - Prisenhof
 

I am looking into several hotels in Brugge for the end of October. Hotel Prisenhof says they have a 149 E room and 208 E room available. My question to all of you who have stayed there is, will I like the less expensive room? When you rave about this hotel, are you referring to the more expensive room?

Ronda,<BR>I can't help you with Hotel Prisenhoff but this past May we spent several nights at Hotel't Voermanshuys in Brugge. The hotel was very nice, small. The room we had was large, clean and a good double bed. The location was wonderful and quiet. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room. If you are interested in paying less for a room than the prices you gave, let me know and I can send you the hotel information. Any way you look at it you will enjoy Brugge. I have other Brugge information if you are interested.

First, it is the Prinsenhof. I have stayed there and it is a great hotel. Now for the rooms you are quoted I am not sure. All I can say is that our room was on the topmost floor, and looked out over the city. We were there in winter so the rate was very nice at 108 Euros. That was the rate for what they termed a "standard" room. In fact their original quote was as below:<BR> 1 standard double room with private facilities at 108 Euro<BR>&gt; or 1 deluxe double room at 128 Euro<BR>&gt; or 1 superior double room at 179 Euro<BR>&gt; or 1 superior deluxe (four-poster bed) at 220 Euro<BR><BR>Our room was very large with an excellent bathroom. Everything was spotless and new. In fact the owner told me that he typically renovates each room about every three years to keep them up to standards expected. I think you would be happy with any room in this hotel. If you want to see what some of the rooms look like visit their web site at www.prinsenhof.com. If you are not happy as a clam in this hotel I will be very surprised. It is a great hotel. Great. I have stayed in hotels from 2 star to 4/5 star all over Europe and this one is hands down one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Absolutley wonderful.

One of the travel books listed is as described above but you have to share bathroom/toilet. Is that correct? Thanks.

Celeste - did you post under the correct thread? Which guide book are you referring to?

The Prinsenhof DOES NOT have shared toilets...this is a 4 star hotel. You must be thinking of some other place by the same name in another city.

Ed, my thought exactly. I made a typo in Prinsenhof and did not spell it correctly in my original post so perhaps Celeste is looking at a different hotel.

Oh yeah! I'm sure they have shared bathrooms at the Prisonhof, didn't know it was in guide books though!

Are these typical rates for the Prinsenhof or are they somehow off-season? The reason I inquire is that I was at the Pandhotel in Brugge 2 weeks ago and paid slightly over 330 E per night. I loved the hotel (now one of my all time favorites) and would gladly stay there again and pay the price, but curious why the disparity in cost. Thank you to anyone with insight.

I was quoted the rates in the first post above for end of October. I also check rates at the Pand and they were more expensive for the same time period.

My husband and I stayed at the Prisenhog last Spring - we had a 2nd floor room which was very lovely ( I think it was #41, accd. to our bill). We paid 208 pounds/night which included a great breakfast. The room included a sitting area w/ a large King bed - a bathroom w/ 2 sinks, a tub, and a shower that appeared to be newly rennovated. I looked at the Romantick Panhandle while we were there and was glad that we decided on the Prisenhof. The Panhandle is right in the middle of the tourist area and a bit noisy. The Prisenhof if more "centrally" located, a couple of blocks away from the main plaza. Enjoy the trip...Brugge is truly one of the loviliest cities in the world.

Candance did you pay 208 Pounds or 208 Euros? Man 208 Pounds would be about $300 US a night. That sounds high to me. Regardless, this is THE BEST hotel in Brugge bar none.

Rhonda,<BR> After staying at the Prisenhof twice for about $225/night we upgraded to a room for about $320 last fall. Didn't see that much difference in the rooms. If you are quoted 149E and 208E, these would seem great rates. We actually switched to the Pandhotel for our most recent visit (last month) as we wanted to try it (Loved It!!!) and also thought to get away from the bustle so close to the main square (contrary to opinion expressed by Candace the Pandhotel is less in the middle of the tourist area than the Prisenhof). Truth be told the entire town is a tourist zone and yet still so charming you won't care. Both are fine hotels, we paid $328/night at Pandhotel for one of their suites and it is now one of my favorite rooms of all times (lots of unique antique pieces from the owners shop). I doubt you will find any rooms at Pandhotel for the prices you have been quoted. Brugge should be beautiful in Ocotber, enjoy!

Once again everyone, yes, I misspelled the hotel's name it is:<BR><BR>P R I N S E N H O F<BR><BR>and not Prisenhof (I dropped an N). So I hope we are all talking about the same hotel in Brugge and not the prison where ha ha stayed with a shared bath. <BR><BR>FYI That was 149 E for a double room superior and 208 E for a superior room. There is a superior deluxe listed for 263 E.<BR><BR>Thanks. <BR><BR><BR>

You will never regret staying there and these are excellent rates. Go for it and do not worry - you will LOVE this hotel.

I stayed at the following B and B. It was very nice and very well located AND very reasonable.
