I would say that's just a few cm.>

The solo seats are to me priceless - there are many more differences than the size of the seat - do not judge the difference between classes by that - that's missing the big picture. I'll stand by my take that there is much more difference between classes than a few centimetres of seat size even if that is true.

1st class seats have 3cm (1.2 inches) more knee space and are 3.5 cm (1.4 inches) wider than 2nd class.

I would say that's just a few cm.>

I do not dispute that and you miss the whole picture focusing just on seat size - again read my several reasons that I think first class is a bit better or more relaxed than 2nd class and it has nothing to do with seat size.

That seats are about the same size is totally irrelevant to my argument. they could be exactly the same size and it would not make any different - one thing for sure something is bigger if you have three seats in each row vs 4 in the same size train car (same width) - I guess aisles are bigger if not seats - more room to put small items on the floor.

There is a significant difference between classes and that is why most trains have 2-4 first class cars on them - or are Europeans as you and others suggest complete idiots to pay more for 'only a few centimetres of size difference' - I think not.

That said let me reiterate that 2nd class, especially on the newer high-speed trains is perfectly comfy - just that first class is even more comfy. I am only pointing out the difference - something no one else seems to ever do - give the whole picture and let the person decide vs automatically saying cheapest is best and first class is a total waste of money- the mantra of many here and often it seems based on limited train travel and probably never going first class.

Enough said.
