Bruges hotel recomendation
Hello,
My family will be visiting Bruges this month. We will arrive on Dec 26th for a few nights. Do you have any recomendations for nice mid price hotels near the center of town? We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids- ages 10 and 12). Our price range is 100-125 euro per night.. Thanks... |
Actually cheaper than your target price but we've enjoyed a couple of stays at
http://www.hotels-belgium.com/hb-brugge-cavalier.htm. Great staff, breakfast and the location is ideal. Just down the street from the Markt. They have a quad room also. |
We stayed at Hotel De snippe, it was awesome!
|
I highly recommend Hotel ter Duinen. http://www.terduinenhotel.be/
It is an absolutely charming hotel with the most gracious owners/hosts we have found anywhere in Europe. My family of four stayed in a very large quad room on the top floor with gorgeous views of the canals. Enjoy your trip. |
Our family spent two nights at a B&B called Absoluut Verhulst in August 2004. We have traveled in Europe many times, and this was truly one of the best places we've ever stayed. Their loft suite would be ideal for your family and may be just slightly above your budget. (But perhaps their wonderful breakfast makes up for that!) The location is ideal, and the hosts are so welcoming and wonderful. Our daughter was 11 at the time and loved staying there. Friends stayed there this summer with their teenage daughter and also loved it.
See their website at http://www.b-bverhulst.com/ and my more detailed review here: http://www.slowtrav.com/other/hotels...nd%20nieuwland (Mine is the second review.) Kathy |
We enjoyed the Hotel Adornes. If you go, please give the marvelous desk clerk, Natalie, our regards. The stay in Bruges at Adornes was the highlight of our visit to Europe, I hope yours is wonderful!

Hi - I stayed at Hotel t'Zand in September. Loved it! The hotel is newly renovated. It is located on the pedestrian square called t'Zand. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and had a wonderful, deep bathtub and shower. I paid 60 euro for a single. They did have some family rooms I think. Wonderful breakfast. Have a fun time, Bruges was wonderful.

Thanks to you all for the great hotels recommendations. I will check them out. We are getting really excited about our upcoming trip.

Hi,
Is the B&B called Absoluut Verhulst in the historic center of Bruges? I checked its website but I'm confused about its location. Thanks! |
The Absoluut Verhulst is a 5 minute walk to the center of town. I enjoyed my stay there last summer. The hosts are truly warm and charming, the breakfasts superb;.
|
Another vote for the Verhulst...they are the most wonderful, accomodating hosts! Stayed there 2005 and heartily recommend it!

Hello, we have booked a room at the Hotel Adornes in March. It sounds lovely. Does anyone know what type of weather we might expect in mid-March. We anticipate rain.
Thank you. |
For something a bit different how about the Hotel De Barge, which is (as the name suggests!) a converted barge.
Very nice cabins - decent size for a boat, with double beds and en-suites. Lovely little bar and restauarant on board - nice food with local specialities like shrimp croquettes and sea bream. Very helpful staff with impeccable English. Only slight downside - the hotel is not right in the city centre, being on one of the outer canals. And the location is therefore not the most picturesque - but the fun of being afloat far outweighs this, IMHO. About a 5 min walk to the town centre, right next to the coach park, and 10 mins walk from the railway station. Available through all the usual booking agents (Expedia/Last Minute/Eurostar etc) http://brugge.boat-hotel-de-barge.to...typname=Brugge |
We stayed at the Sofitel in Brugge. It was a nice hotel though a little stuffy. We were a family of 4 and had to get 2 rooms. It was nice to have 2 adjoining rooms with the 2 bathrooms, though a little pricey.
Brugge was a wonderful city. Enjoy! |
Is the B&B called Absoluut Verhulst in the historic center of Bruges?
Yes it is. We stayed there in 2004 as well and enjoyed it. Good location, wonderful hosts, and a really good breakfast. Only down side was that our daughters crib, provided by the hosts, had bed bugs. She did okay, but looking at our pictures from London two days later still makes me feel a little sad for her. |
Ahh, Bruges - how fabulous! We LOVED the Contrast B&B when we stayed there last month. Unusual but hands down the best bed we slept in any town/village, and AMAZING food, so cordially served. Cathy and Dries are the perfect hosts and for only 85E a night, it was a steal! Check it out for yourself:

we stayed at Hotel Ter Brughe last friday night. It was right in the center of old town, our room overlooked the canal. Wonderful historic building from 1553. Fantastic breakfast included. We paid 105 euro for two adults.

How many days would one have to stay in Brugge to see its main sights?
s |
Two days is probably enough - as long as they were full days.
|
Two days is plenty. It is a very compact town. The train station is centrally located and you can travel to many different citites from there.
