Browns Hotel, London

Has anyone stayed here recently? I know Rocco Forte took it over, is it worth the asking price? How would it compare to the Four Seasons? Thanks.

Sargeant,
Just read a review of the newly refurbished Browns in the NYTimes Sunday travel section:

So much for the Brown's we knew and loved...but at least the tea room sounds somewhat the same.

We had dinner there several times and enjoyed sitting in the lounge and sipping tea. The restaurant used to be excellent by every standards (but I guess, there had be a change of the chef, too). However, we never slept there, because we thought it is not worth the price.

If this helps at all, we stayed at Browns before it was renovated. The tearoom was the best part. The rooms and service, esp. at breakfast were mediocre. The following year, we were lucky enough to snag a great deal at Claridges, and there's no turning back!
