I just happened upon this as I was searching for something else but I feel compelled to reply.
In 2001 my husband and I visited Scotland. We modified a trip we had planned with friends who opted out. It was amazing. Our "itinerary" was to fly into Edinburgh and out of London, but the 10 days between were always up to modifying. On a whim, after seeing Loch Ness we decided to go to Sterling before heading to Hadrian's Wall.
On my way down to breakfast, I slipped on some loose carpet on the steps and broke my leg! I went to "emergency" and ended up having surgery and a plate put in my leg! Definately nit what we planned!
We didn't get to see Durham Cathedral or York Minster as planned, but we did continue.
The weirdest thing that happenned is that when we went to Glousceter, we rented a wheelchair because we wanted to investigate my husband's ancestory and we ended up meeting a relative! I mean REALLY WEIRD!
Anyways, I wanted to sympathize. Yet, as I think about it, I would have given anything for it to have been my elbow that I broke rather than my leg!

Paulas you have my sympathy. but this was wren's trip. I went to France a few years ago with a cast on my arm. And being "disab;led"on the other did limit me somewhat. BUT tyou know what, people were so nice and cut up my food to give my husband a break.

Mimi, the 8th poster down is dave...dwzemens.
You know the whole time we kept saying it could have been worse. DH came really close to hitting his head on an iron radiator. If he had broken his leg, I think he would have come home and my daughter and I would have travelled by ourselves. That is how we kept our spirits up...just knowing it could have been a lot worse. (and also seeing amazing sites along with having wonderful experiences!!!)
