Brittany Without a Car??

I'm working on my itinerary for a month in France this summer, and I'm thinking I'd like to start (after Paris) with 7-10 days in Brittany. PS-I don't drive.

I need help in deciding on towns from which to base myself that will give me the most bang for my buck--both in terms of their own inherent beauty, AND their accessibility to nearby villages via train/bus.

I know I definitely want to stay at least a couple of days in Dinan. Can anyone recommend a second and third base?

I'd also very much like to see Carnac. Is there a place that's accessible by bus to the ruins?

I'd appreciate the input!

Carnac is on the bus route from Vannes and Auray to Quiberon.
The buses go via the beach part of Carnac then through the town centre. The stones are within 15 minutes walk of the town centre.
Vannes is an attractive town and is well served by trains, buses and boats, so I think it's a good base for the area.

I've gone to the thalasso spas in Dinard (3 times) and Carnac (once) and the bus system is really good. I take trains only, never bother with a car. You can take a TGV directly to St-Malo from Paris and from there you can get buses to Dinard, Dinan, St. Brieuc. illenoo-services.fr

For Carnac, there is a bus service that runs from the train station at Auray which is accessible by TGV from Paris. The bus takes you to Carnac and further to Quiberon. Look on the morbihan.fr site and you will see info on transports.
