Everywhere's slightly different.
In England, a number of authorities have gone for 22-26 October 2007 and 18-22 February 2008. But I have seen one going for a week earlier in February. You can search for the position for any particular area at: http://tinyurl.com/222frc Here are the Scottish dates: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publicati...ssion2007-2008 |
In many school areas they are going for fixed length terms.
The result of this is that the end of the Winter term (and hence Winter half term) now becomes a fixed date rather than flopping around depending on whether Easter is early or late |
hi, roger,
here in Cornwall, the "public" schools [ie the ones paid for by tax payers, not private] usually have the same hols as above, except for half terms - those are usually the last week of October, the last week of February, and the last week of May. hope that helps, regards, ann |
Hi Rodger
Most schools in Scotland have a week holiday some time in February. Exact dates vary from place to place but if you have a particular area in mind let us know and I'll direct you to the web sites of the local councils where you should find all the holiday dates. I don't know of anywhere that has holidays in November. Some places have recently started to build up festivals around St Andrew's Day on 30 November, appropriately enough one of the biggest is in St Andrews in Fife, but the schools won't be closed. Away from the main centres of population the local bus services often double up as the school bus so services are often reduced during the school holidays - check those timetables carefully! |
