British Pound vs Dollar

I see that the pound comes to around 1.7 . Does anyone expect the pound to go up or down before December 2009? I know this sounds like an impossible request. But give it a shot.

I do.

My best guess is that the pound will not stay the same.

It's actually at 1.64 according to xe.com, but regardless, no one can predict what will happen. You can see what's happened the last couple of years here, but who knows what will happen in the future? For the trip I'm planning I'm anticipating everything going up a little against the dollar, but that's just to be conservative.

I can truthfully tell you that I expect the pound to go up or down before December 2009; although there is always the chance it will remain the same.

Hi T,

Most likely up, unless, as is quite probable, various factors affecting the exchange rates beteen major currencies change, in which case it could, most likely, go down.

How many millions of dollars are you planning on trading?

. . . . and IF you are asking because you are considering buy £ ahead of time for a trip in December -- fergeddaboudit!

Even IF the £ went up (and no one knows) it would have to go up a LOT to recoup the cost of buying currency in the States.
