Would we better to exchange money in the US or wait until we get there to do it? Also, the flight between Edinburgh and Dublin is International. Is it required to get to the airport 2 hours early, same as in the US? Thanks for all your input on this, very much appreciated.

You don't want to 'exchange' anywhere (except if you just want a little 'seed money -- like $100 worth to get you started - you can get that at your departure airport) . Just use you ATM card to withdraw cash as you need it from local bank cash machines as you do at home. Do call your bank to tell them you will using the ATM/debit card out of the country. IF the machine offers you the option of calculating your withdrawal in $ . . . don't. It is always better to have it calculated in the local currency. The UK uses £ and Ireland uses €. No matter whether the flight is international or not (It is not considered 'international') you'll want to be at the airport about 90 minutes ahead. For true international flights -- like from the UK to the USA - three hours is normally recommended. |
Thanks so much for the info!
