British Airways Seating Plans

I would like to find a seating arrangement for our flight, but have been unable to do so on the BA site. I can find seating arrangements for various planes, but not particular flights. Does anyone know how to access this information? I have seen posts where this has been done for other airlines.

I've been looking at the same thing! I think I'm going to have to call the airlines this weekend.

Assuming you have a locator number you can go to www.checkmytrip.com and see you seats and what is available in your section of the aircraft.

I meant to say it's also called your resevation number, usually a 6 letter & digit number.

Lori:

Thank you so much. It worked like a charm and, much to my surprise, we apparently will be traveling on packed planes in both directions!

Have bookmarked the site for future reference. Really appreciate your advice! Hope it helped Wendy too.

That is such a useful site - I just checked our upcoming trip and found out everything I need! Thank you Lori!

Giovanna - Your flight may not be quite as busy as they appear on the checkmytrip site as BA do not allocate at least 1/3 of their seats until check-in.

Try seatguru.com (I think that's the URL) for seating arrangements on several airlines, including BA...

BA holds back seats and indicates them as taken so that they can do airport assignments, but we have found this site to be useful just the same. Good luck with your flight, we go in 2 weeks!!

This is a great site and I just pulled up my reservation but it still doesn't show me seats on my BA flights, just says I'm coach and I'm confirmed. Giovanna where did you find the seating?

Wendy

You know, I just realized we are talking about 2 different things. I was looking to see MY seat not the config of the plane and I do see this on the site. Thank you.

Jacqui Mar 21st, 2003 12:10 AM

Wendy - the checkmytrip site DOES allow you to see your seat if you have one allocated.

Give BA a call to see if they have any seats left to allocate - but don't worry too much if they can't since as I said earlier, they save 1/3 of seats for allocation at check-in.

Jacqui: You're absolutely correct about BA blocking seats for airport assignment. I had forgotten that fact.

Wendy: I'm not sure what you are saying in your most recent post. Our seats showed in red on the seating plan. I've forgotten exactly how it works, but it seems to me you are not able to reserve seats for a specific time frame before your flight, but sometimes can reserve, at their discretion, when you are close to leaving. I worried about one flight we took (never comfortable until I have my boarding pass in my hot little hand) and it all worked out okay.

Green Dragon: I had tried SeatGuru, but the only airlines listed were all US. I saw no place to call up BA or any other European airline. Did I miss something?

Again, thanks to everyone for responding to my post. Have printed all my info and have it tucked away with tickets, etc.

For BA 747 & 777 maps try:

www.seatexpert.com

Even if you make seat reguest with BA, you WILL NOT get them! I have used BA at least a dozen times and have requested seats every single time.
when I got to the airport they say, No you didn't request them!! And I have alway been there at three hours early! And was told there are no seats available for your request, sorry. They are very strict with their 12 pound carry on limit now I hear too. Or 5 kg if you use European measurements. They have always been very nice about it. Never rude. And in most cases I did get the seat I wanted. Just be polite and smile a lot. I do enjoy my flights with British Airways.
