British Airways Flight Prices

I'm planning on flying from LAX to Heathrow on December 14th. I checked their website 3 months ago and the ticket price was about $ 675.oo. I just checked it again, ready to book, at it is $800! Does anyone think they prices will go down for a 30 day advance within the next 7 to 10 days.

You don't have to fly British Airlines?
Try Expedia or Travelocity etc to see who is currently running the best specials.

BA is having a huge sale - a bunch of other airlines have specials to London as well. 14 Dec may be a popular date, as it's the Friday before the traditional pre-Xmas 'blackout week'. But even so, you should be able to find something from LAX for under $450, maybe $400. Be flexible with the dates if you can, and definately be flexible about which London airport you use - you may have more choices with Gatwick. Try qixo.com, in addition to the suggestions Gerry made.

Virgin Atlantic is showing $338 roundtrip LAX to Heathrow if you travel Mon-Thurs, with no blackout dates and no advance purchase:
http://www.digitalcity.com/losangeles/travel/deals.adp
But since you want to go on a Friday the price may be significantly higher.

Lisa I can't believe you got such a good deal from Virgin. From DC they quote me a price of a little over $1,000

Travelocity just sent me an email with flights from Seattle to Heathrow for $240!! This was thru their site and I think it was on United.

Wendy,
See the thread entitled "What's the
deal with Travelocity/United?" Let us know if the Seattle-Heathrow
fare really turns out to be true.
It wasn't working for Charlotte, Raleigh
and NYC. Thanks! and good luck...

Jes, just had a chance to read some of the threads you mentioned. I didn't actually try to book the flight but I did play around as far as picking actual flights and times and took it until the "booking" then exited. Didn't have any problems but like I said I didn't actually book it.

You could book a cheap fare from LAX-NYC and then get one of the Virgin $199 round trip fares from NYC-LHR. Like everyone else said though, you need to be very flexible with your dates. Also, some fares have gone up in the last week due to demand (since many airlines have cancelled flights, there are fewer seats available). I got a RT ticket from SEA-LHR for $420 on UAL but I'm leaving December 3.

No joke! What is up with the prices!?!!? Guess nature of the pricing market. I'm planning on leaving LAX for London as well but I'm going to do something that is not my m.o. - wait till the last possible moment (I want to go for New Years)and see what happens - If I wake up Xmas day and see some hot fares - where are my slippers!!

Check orbitz.com. I got $388 (inc. tax) from Dulles-Heathrow on Dec. 27 on BA.

Travelocity has a link on their main page for 10% off British Airways flights. I got a good deal thru this link for a trip to London, but you have to book before Nov. 19th.
