British Air layover

My son has 7 hour layover at Heathrow on Wednesday before flying on Kenya Air (eventually back to Entebbe, where he lives). Does anyone know if British Air's "lounge" allows day users (for a fee) other than First and Business Class passengers? Also, has anyone used the lounge called Holideck Heathrow in Terminal 4?

Thanks.

Can't answer your questions, but another option is to go to one of the airport hotels. I did this on my layover to Tanzania. Sheraton Skyline offers day rates on their rooms. I was able to shower, nap, etc. and then head back to Heathrow for my evening flight.

I haven't checked on any positive or negative reviews, but there is now a Yotel at Heathrow. You can check out their website at http://www.yotel.com/.

Perhaps someone has stayed there and can give you more info.

Hi,

You definitely can not get into the BA lounges - you need to be flying business class with them or a one world partner (or be a silver/gold card holder).

Do a search for airport lounges heathrow.

The lounges you are talking about looks good - but remember you can only be there 3 hours before your departure - that will be the same with all the lounges you pay for.

I think you'll find the new Yotel to be the better option. That way he will even have a bed if he wants to nap for a couple of hours, then shower and get on his next flight. You pay only for the time you stay in blocks of 4 hours, so it costs about $60 for 5 hours ($50 for 4 hours), and that seems like a decent deal to me (except for the free food and drink you'd get in a lounge). The room includes free internet, and you can order food for delivery.

Fantastic info. Thank you all.

Most of BA long-haul use Terminal 4 (though some on T1) and Kenya Air uses Terminal 4.
He won't be able to access BA lounge as a day user, but there is another pay-for-use lounge in Terminal 4. I recall you should be able to book it on-line.

Go into Heathrow website,
http://www.heathrowairport.com/

then click under the tab "Plan and bookyour trip", then "book an airport lounge".

W9London - thanks, that's the Holideck to which I referred in my original post.

I'm thinking with such a long layover and long trip (plus he's got to go back to work the next day), the Yotel is worth the price for the bed and shower. Its 12 pounds more, but that's not much for what you get.

My husband used yotel at Gatwick between flights from US to UK and a flight to Corfu, Greece. Fantastic experience - a sleep and a shower and he arrived in Greece relaxed and ready to go out for dinner!

Carolina, I'm so glad to finally hear a review of a yotel. There have been many times I was at LHR and I dearly wanted a place to shower and nap, but yotels were not available then. I wish all major airports had yotels. Let's hope the idea catches on.

Personally, I'm looking forward to trying a Yotel pod. I am so used to staying in small hotel rooms I think it will feel perfectly normal.

My son did use the Yotel at Heathrow (he had 8-1/2 hours between flights, followed by another 8-1/2 hours flying, another 6 hour layover, and another hour-long flight --- YUK!). He said it was great. He wouldn't do it if he were laying over for just a few hours, or if his next flight were short, but for a long layover/long flight combination, he thought it was fantastic. Not too many channels on the TV, but internet access, a comfortable bed and a private bathroom/shower were enough to make it worth it for him. His girlfriend returned to Uganda yesterday, and used the Yotel last night, so I'll get more detail once she's back in Uganda.
