Do any of us really want to be associated with someone who openly calls themselves a snob? So I doubt we would be allowed to carry their special camera bag LOL

One of the reasons I like the strap I mentioned above is that you actually wins up carrying the camera more on your hip. More discreet and for a woman, without a flat chest, it just is much less irritation I have never been able to carry a camera with a decent lens around my neck, which meant it hung off my shoulder making it easier to take off and leave

The only place I have ever even felt strange with the camera was Naoles. At least three locals warned me to be careful so I did tuck it under my jacket when not in use. My traveling companion thought I lost it a few times since the strap and jacket combo had it pretty hidden.

With the crop body the 50mm is wayyy too tight for my liking so it will probably be staying at home

I'd reconsider that as the 50mm doesn't weigh much and is a faster lens. I've taken some nice shots in museums of objects in low light.

Many years ago as walked through the Alfama in Lisbon, old ladies dressed in black yelled from their windows for us to watch our cameras.

Should I lie about it like most others do? Sounds to me like you're an anti-snob snob. I purposely picked my name to expose those with two faces. I also picked it because I'm honest about my desire to find and taste the finest food ingredients. Yes, my snob appeal doesn't end with eating. I've always worked hard for my money, and I work equally hard to make sure I spend it wisely on smart purchases. No profligate spending here, and I do a ton of hands-on research. So if you have no interest in my personal experience and/or veteran travel wisdom, then don't read my posts. Commenting on my writing is a sure sign you can't resist me.

I'm insured. I let college interns carry my $30,000 camera kit all the time, and some of them are clumsy dimwits. So no worries, CarolA, I'd let you carry my bag anytime.

I hear she's a snob.

We all have our likes and dislikes and naturally some are more important and intense than others. And the vast majority of people I know also work hard for their money. BUT they do not have advertise same and rub it the faces of others.

One obvious point that you seem to miss, is that if you do not lord your snobbery over others, than your "veteran travel advice" would be more palatable.

I do not feel like a "lord," and nor do I think of myself as a "lord." I also don't wish to control the way people interpret my writing style.

As for being "palatable," I'm not much interested in tasting good to everyone who is willing to take a bite.

What a riot. I guess snobs never heard of second definitions.

pal·at·a·ble (pl-t-bl)adj.
1. Acceptable to the taste; sufficiently agreeable in flavor to be eaten.
2. Acceptable or agreeable to the mind or sensibilities

I absolutely stand by my critique of tourists who dangle a 10-pound tool from their neck while walking through crowded areas that are popular with tourists.

LOL! Has NYFoodSnob actually ever given any advice? I don't see it. I see a lot of bragging about how superior he/she is, but... I just clicked on the name and read other posts in other threads. I haven't found much useful advice, just a lot of "trash talk" For example, in a thread on "where to stay in Rome" we were treated to an indictment of 4 hotels along with this helpful "gem" "There just aren't great, affordable choices in Rome's city center. If you truly want space to move, charm, and a quiet night's sleep (which can be interpreted as a windowless room), it'll cost you, and you need to ask for a specific room number." That's helpful how??? LOL!

Notice we still don't get a recommendation that's USEFUL NYFoodSnob claims to have the "perfect" bag and we can't hear about it. NYFoodSnob claims to have $30,000 worth of camera equipment. What we get it "I am superior in every way"

Hmm.. Generally those who brag about things like that are living in a fantasy world where they really don't have the items they "claim" but just want everyone to believe they have it. Those who do have nice stuff have learned to keep their fingers off the keyboards.

Thanks so much for the laugh this morning. I needed it.

>>>Showing off your (very expensive) tool in public just makes you look like a show off.

So this would be a compliment from you, NYCFoodSnob.

One really should try to not suck and blow at the same time.
