FYI - I live in Europe so kind of DO know what is going on. I prefer the Youtube videos of tourists in Kos buying food for the refugees and actually HELPING them rather than what the OP is all about 'run for your lives the illegals are here'.

Nevertheless, you said your son is planning to spent some time of his gap year in Budapest.
So I assumed you had more personal interest in receiving feedback on the situation than to discuss OP's motivation.
FYI - I live in Berlin, and I kind of do not know what is going on in Hungary because I don't live there - with the possible exception of Budapest where I go to several times a year.

I had no intentions of wasting my time for trying to proof something that is absolutely evident for us, locals, but still, just a tiny addition. This was the Keleti train station's and subway's area a few days ago. The pictures were taken by editorial staff of Daily News Hungary, a site that has no left or right inclinations. Just very SIMPLE and PURE facts/pics. An ABSOLUTELY, OVERWHELMING majority of the population of the country, does not want to experience that kind of situation, anywhere in Hungary. So simple. Oh yes, if you will ask the opinion of the farmers and locals, living close to the border , whose farms and gardens has been literally eroded by the passing through 100,000 plus people, then my comments would look like a 15 years extremely educated, aristocratic girl's chatting at her first Ball, somewhere in the 19th century...

He came across as very concerned but not at all racist or ultra nationalist, IMO.

A sad and troubling situation from every angle.

4 weeks ago about 20 East African (Somali?) migrants ran onto our train car just as it was leaving Brennero, Italy, for the 30 minute ride down to Innsbruck, Austria. There was no attempt to evict the ticketless passengers and they scattered upon arrival in Innsbruck. It seemed to be business as usual.

I see that that Germany is now asking for ID checks at this border crossing.
