Bridget Bardot

My husband and I were recently in Italy. On TV we saw a news program that stated Bridget Bardot passed away at the age of 72. Has anyone else heard this news? My Italian is not the best, but I do not the word "morto".
I am hoping I misinterpreted this broadcast. My friends in the U.S.A. have not heard the news, but I sadly do believe she passed away in late September of this year. Any replies would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I don't think this is the case. See here for recent stories about her:

Alive, according to

I don't know if this site is trustworthy.

Don't really see anyone jumping out here either (who might be confused for Bardot):

I am happy to say that Bridgett Bardot, is alive and well and still an outspoken animal activist.
Her birthday is in September, maybe that is what they were talking about?

cigalechanta Nov 3rd, 2004 12:15 PM

She's very much alive and spouting anti muslim stuff. She wants them out of France and still very involved with animal rights.

It seems she was born in 1934 Sep.28 so she is 70 today. Maybe she "wishes" to pass away at/by 72 ?!?!

Giuseppa Nov 3rd, 2004 12:46 PM

The Italian program we were watching was similiar to one of our "talk shows". It was on for apx. 1/2 hour and they chronicled the highlights of her career. At the end, they said, "Bridget Bardot, morta at age 69 or 72. I don't remember which. Anyway, I remember my husband and I being very upset. But, it is possible they were doing a show because it was her birthday, as it would seem a coincidence that she would pass away on the same day she was born....As I stated in my earlier post... forse non abbiamo capito bene la lingua d' italiano.

I hope she is ok and keeping up her animal rights programs. She was about as close of a role model that I had when I was a preteen, she was living an exciting life and so pretty and lively -my friend and I were little Bardot Wannabees.

cigalechanta Nov 3rd, 2004 01:11 PM

She's fine, SeaUrchin, I read a recent interview with her and still living with that guy from Le Pen's party.

Brigite Bardot is Pride and joy of France..if she were death, it would have been in many papers around the world..
She still resides in Saint Tropez. Brigitte is the patron of all the animals..Her rescues of dog and cats at the Humane society are Notorious..
Brave Brigite, I hope tha she has a very long life...

Beatchick Nov 3rd, 2004 01:45 PM

I thought she had gone to jail recently? For a short period of time?

FainaAgain Nov 3rd, 2004 01:52 PM

No, Beatchick, it was Martha Stewart.

Beatchick Nov 3rd, 2004 02:03 PM

Ar ar ar. :D

Scarlett Nov 3rd, 2004 04:19 PM

She was fined for making some sort of Racist remarks. But I don't think she actually stayed in jail.
Remember when she stole someones donkey (her neighbor?) because he was not taking good care of it :)

cigalechanta Nov 3rd, 2004 04:24 PM

no jail time, see above.

cigalechanta Nov 3rd, 2004 04:27 PM

She's anti-gay, anti-ethnic and in her book, savaged all her ex husbands and lovers. Claimed the only man she truly loved was Serge Gainsboro(sp?)

TopMan Nov 3rd, 2004 05:05 PM

She's only "anti-gay" when someone isn't doing her hair and make-up!

kismetchimera Nov 3rd, 2004 05:47 PM

However I still think that despite her beliefs, or how she feels about a particular group(nobody is perfect), she does wonder for the Animals Cause..

In my book anyone that loves, cares or fight for the animals rights, is not BAD at all..
Brava Brigitte,

You do know that Hitler was famously a dog-lover, don't you? Very devoted to his pup, Blondie. (No, I'm not kidding.) Call me crazy, but he's pretty bad in my book.
