Brewery Hostel-Dublin-ok?
I just booked a night with The Brewery Hostel in Dublin. It is smaller than the ones in all the guides and seems very clean (from website pix) The staff was very helpful on the phone and the price was right (25 GBP for two people). I need to know if anyone has stayed there-- what was it like? I don't mind noise, I just really hope it's clean and secure...any comments? Thanks- M

I was there in April. I don't recommend it. It's in a run-down section of town and on a major noisy street. Beds were filthy (luckily we brought sleep sheets! The blanket on my bed smelled like vomit!) Shower had no cold water which meant it was scalding so you really couldn't wash up very well. It was cheap, yes, but it wasn't pleasant. <BR>

I would recommend Barnacles Hostel in the middle of Temple Bar in the City. I'm from Dublin and pass it daily and it looks lovely. Its very popular though. Its website it http://www.barnacles.ie

We just returned from Ireland and we stayed two days in Dublin. We stayed at the Mercer Hotel and it was lovely. The location was perfect. Close to Grafton Street, and short walk to the Temple Bar area. I would highly recommend this hotel.
