I wonder if any Fodorites had an Air B&B reservation in that building.

We have had 2 similar in NYC in the past couple of years. They were just urban issues- nothing to do with terrorism. In both cases the buiding exploded and there were deaths.
One was a restaurant that had illegally modified the gas cooking system in an unsafe way and the other was the fault of Con Edison - which apparently had put a gas line under too much pressure (that is too heavy a weight on top of the line(which are underground).

Breaking news stories are almost always full of misinformation - they're meant to grab viewers/readers who will be sure to stay tuned. These reports are notorious for not providing accurate info, especially right off the bat.
Almost everyone in Paris would wonder about a very loud noise if they were in the immediate vicinity, but I don't see the point of repeating unsubstantiated reports on a travel forum.

I was wondering where exactly in the 6th. I've rented a beautiful apartment on rue du Cherche-Midi in the past and have taken a cupcake class at l'Atelier du gâteau which is right on rue de l'Abbé Grégoire. They posted on their facebook page they had been evacuated but would be open Sunday.
