Breakfasts in Munich
I will probably be staying at the hotel Meridien without breakfast included. Are there lots of cafes for decent reasonably priced breakfasts around the main rail station? Thanks.

We had two days without breakfast on the last trip. We simply had instant coffee in the room and two pieces of fruit while getting ready for the day. It appears that most of the hotels in Germany have kettles in the room.
By the time we got to our destination, we toured for a short time then ate lunch. We just skipped the big breakfast on those days.

What do you want for breakfast? There are bread stores everywhere that sell pastries and either coffee to go, or to have it there while standing. (stehcafe).

Personally, we like skipping the big breakfast so that we can get started earlier. Later in the day when we are getting tired and need a good break, we eat a nice lunch and relax before hitting the touring again.

You may be interested in picking up a specialty gbread item as suggested above and a cup of coffee to go or you may be interested in having coffee in your room with something you picked up the night before.

If not, even though your room came without breakfast, the hotel still serves breakfast, you just pay extra for it.

When I was there about 3 years ago, the main train station had several fast-food places. The train station also had at least one sit-down restaurant.

In the streets next to the train station, I do not recall seeing any cafe's. However, a few blocks away is a shopping district that had several restaurants and take-out places.

You can also buy breakfast at your hotel.
