Breakfast oplaces near Trafalgar Square or picadilly
We arrive very early in the am. We will drop our bags at our hotel near Trafalgar Square and will then be in the mood for a terrific breakfast! Any suggestions?
Thanks. |
I've never had breakfast there, but there's a Cafe in the basement of St. Martin-in-the-Fields church, the famous Sir Christopher Wren church that sits IN Trafalgar Square. They open for breakfast at 8 am except on Sunday.

Yikes, I got it wrong. Architect was James Gibbs. I need some more coffee.

Over on Picadilly, near the Ritz Hotel, is the Wolseley, which offers the best breakfast in town, according to both Zagats and Hardens.

Yes, for "terrific" breakfast, the Wolsely is great! There is also a Paul (from Paris) right up on Bedford which is closer to Trafalgar than the Wolsely. There is a back room with full breakfasts and amazing pastries.
Another great idea is Inn the Park, just inside St. James Park from Trafalgar. Full breakfasts in a nice park setting. Don't let anyone talk you into going to Simpson's in the Strand. |
We went for breakfast at the Wolseley after our early morning arrival in London last week. We enjoyed everything; my husband says the coffee was among the best he's had. I would advise reservations. On Sunday it wasn't too crowded, but when we returned on Thursday, it was pretty full. For the menu and other info: http://www.thewolseley.com/
Some of the other suggestions here also sound good... mmm, making me hungry! |
I second Inn the Park!

Thank you everyone! I guess we will have to eat several breakfasts!
