This brings back the memory of one of the funniest newspaper articles I think I've ever read; it stuck with me such that I actually transcribed it from the print copy I tore from the Times one morning while I was sitting in Heathrow waiting for a connecting flight. It's from 1994, pre-internet for all intents and purposes.

A review of breakfast at Simpson's-in-the-Strand: http://gardyloo.us/Rise%20and%20Swine.pdf

I love this bit:-

'On the cover of the breakfast menu is a picture of a man
inducing horror among the staff. It is captioned: "The gentleman who asked for a continental breakfast at
Simpson's.'

Interesting. There's an old-fashioned hardware store near me that sells honeyed pig snouts (for your dog, of course).

'Pal, stay OFF my thread, OK?'

can't believe this. And you'll say I'm rude when I say some people are selective wankers.

I really wish people would read threads more carefully.>

Here's what you wrote:

Any other recs appreciated; we'll be in town for a week.>

To which I gave a reasonable response

I WISH FOLKS WOULD WRITE THEIR OPs more precisely and thus not lambaste one for giving an honest suggestion and a good suggestion not knowing indeed if you've had a 'proper full English breakfast' and not the kind served at upscale hotels.>

Oh well yes WoinParis nails it on the head.

Cheers- enjoy breaking your fast!

If you're near St James Park you might enjoy Inn the Park.
