Brasserie recommendation in Paris
 

I will be in Paris in a few weeks with a group of 8 women. We are looking for a tradditional brasserie not to far from our hotel, in the 1st. Looking for traditional Brasserie setting, with nice decor, varied menu, good food and service. Either walking distance from the Place de la Concorde, or no more than a 10-15 minute taxi ride.

In that you are a group of 8 ladies, I'd also recommend a lovely bistro that I visited twice for lunch in April 2007. Great prixe fixe for both lunch and dinner. The food is wonderful and the restaurant offers a high level of hospitality with special amouse bouche(s) and lovely extras along with your desert (petit fours, housemade candies). Les saveurs de Flora is located in the 8th, across the street from Hotel George V and a block from the Champs. Highly recommended:

Le Vaudeville is one of the Flo Group of brasseries. It's got all the traditional touches.

Gallopin is also a great old traditional brasserie, just on the other side of the Bourse from le Vaudeville

The first thing that came to mind for that neighborhood was Le Vaudeville also.

Another vote for Le Gallopin. Great food, atmosphere and service every time I've been there (though admittedly last time was a few years ago), with much of its original 19th C decor.

Will check out Gallopin, my last meal at Vaudville was "so so" with not great service

My favorite nearby for the quality of food, service and decor is Aux Lyonnais on the Rue St-Marc. While it's in the 2nd the overall experience makes it worth a small journey a la pied. Or by taxi if you must.

RJD, I'm glad you had a good experience with Aux Lyonnais - dinner there was my only disappointment in April '07. My 25 year old daughter and I had a 9pm reservation that they could not find (my only lost reservation amoung dozens placed the past few years by the Hilton consierge). Mistakes happen; they found us a table right inside the door. We received poor service. Yes, the quenelles were very good but the terrible service detracted from the meal. I felt the E140 tab not worth it. I may try again as it usually gets such good reviews. It really is in a pretty uninteresting location and we had a hard time getting a cab on a Saturday night.
