Bourne Supremacy

I really cannot wait until it comes out on July 23rd. I love the 1st one, and just ordered the *new* Explosive Extended Version DVD - due for release tomorrow July 13th.

I was checking out the Bourne Supremacy website. The new movie is shot on location in Berlin, Moscow, Naples, & Goa (India); with Berlin being the most filmed. Having visited Berlin last year, I cannot wait to see the movie.

Anyone else sharing my enthusiasm?

I hope they show alot of Goa, my Indian friends talk about it alot. It's the beach for the young, partying type, I think.

I'm excited too about "Supremacy" and I'm not really an action movie fan. It's the locations I think that made me love "Bourne Identity." It gave great treatment to Paris and the French countryside. Thanks for sharing information on locations for the next one, but I'll pass on getting the new version. I have "Identity" on DVD and consider that one explosive enough.

I too am excited about the Bourne Identity, particularly the Berlin scenes. That's one of the cities at the top of my "Where to visit next in Europe list."

Sorry, I meant Bourne Supremacy. Wonder if they can top the Paris car chase from the original?

I hope it's a whole lot better than the Bourne Identity. I was very disappointed in this movie. I had read the book and it was much, much better than the movie.

Personally, I thought about all they did in the movie was break windows. This seems to be pretty typical of the movies they make today. Everything is in your face. No thought required.

I have read just about all of Ludlum's (sp?) books, but only a couple have been made into movies that I know of. Neither of them was even close to capturing the thoughts and mood of the book.

Curious

BTW, the *new* Explosive Extended Edition DVD for Bourne Identity comes with a free movie ticket for Bourne Supremacy. Mine just arrived today. Pretty good deal, and the free ticket is for admission up to $10.50.

The movie opens today!
The reviews in WSJ & NYT are both favorable.

slightly off topic but another great movie for France scenery is Ronin with Robert DeNiro. Watched it again the other night and it's a highly underrated action film IMO.

For those who are interested, Matt Damon will be interviewed on Fresh Air by Terry Gross today.

yk - I have to say that the Explosive Extended version of Bourne Identity sucks. The extra scenes are not well incorporated, and the transfer to DVD is of lower quality than the main movie.

Also, the DTS audio track of the original DVD also went missing.

rkkwan-

Do you want to trade my DVD for yours? ;)
No, you don't get the free ticket. I'm using it tomorrow.

swalter, I agree with Ronin being underated. The glimpses that I have seen from the trailer, look very similar( as far as coloring and mood go there is something differant about European shoots, IMO) to Ronin.

Curious, are you out there?

Re: "Personally, I thought about all they did in the movie was break windows. This seems to be pretty typical of the movies they make today. Everything is in your face. No thought required."

I agree wholeheartedly. We have raised an entire generation of youngsters with attention-deficit symptoms. Recent news articles have warned that the fast-action, flickering, image-flashing television seen by very young children re-wires their brains, so only in-your-face stuff will get their attention. This will only get worse, I'm afraid.

Wow, have I departed from the travel theme of this forum? Sorry, I just could not help myself. J.

FYI, we saw it yesterday and liked it very much, it was entertaining and good summer action flick...not as good as Ronin however ;-).

Scarlett Jul 24th, 2004 06:09 AM

We saw Bourne yesterday and I liked the first one a bit more.
But that said, it is still an entertaining movie.
Do not get your hopes up about seeing much of Naples or Moscow, the scenes are often just skylines or a quick race through some streets.

The first feature starts in exactly one hour and I'll be there. So I must get off the computer now to get going.

Happy weekend, all!!

francophile03 Jul 24th, 2004 06:37 AM

Any movie featuring European scenery I'll go see. I saw The Bourne Identity which I liked alot. So I'm sure I'll enjoy The Bourne Supremacy. Ronin's car chase scene was unique yet I wouldn't if The Bourne Supremacy doesn't have a better car chase scene than Ronin. It's just entertainment.

Still have yet to see Before Sunset!!

Read the book!

francophile03 Jul 24th, 2004 06:55 AM

I'd rather the views so I'll skip the book.
