Bourjois Make-up Paris
 

Where can I buy Bourjois in Paris and is there other brand that are good and not expensive (12E for lipstick). Merci

You can buy it at Monoprix and I think most regular dept. stores. It's okay, better if you are young, I think as it is very highly pigmented (like the blushers and eye shadows). I think you can buy it in the US at Sephora, but am not sure as I don't like it that well (for the reasons named). I like the eyeliner pencil okay. Just browse what's in the store, hard to say what you will like or think good, they have several brands in Monoprix at that price level. Some are British and they sell those in the US, also (like Rimmel). These are cheap drugstore brands, don't seem like anything special to me. The one thing I like about Bourjois is they have nice and creative packaging (I used to work in the cosmetic industry in packaging coincidentally, so guess that's what I notice).

That would be true if she is very young. Here is an article in the NYT which refers to the Easter egg bright colors as being "cooked" (I'm no chemist, just worked in packaging, so don't know about that but something makes them very bright and not very subtle). Also, if people claim it is Chanel because the same company owns both, etc., don't believe them. I did work in makeup and the ingredients are different, just because you are owned by the same company or even manufactured in the same plant doesn't make you the same.

Hi Christina. My niece is a teen who is starting to use make-up and after reading more on the brand I think the colours, as you said, are two bold. Besides, her mom (and me, her godmother) are on the side of light and tasteful then change palette as you move through life.

Upset? Not me. My first make-up in my late teens was from Michel Robichaud. Thirty something years later I'm using MAC, Revlon, L'Oréal,Chanel, Lise Watier (for perfume as well) and Laura Mercier. For me, it depends how I feel that particular season and what works on my skin. For some of my friends, the name on the products they pull from their purse is very important. Is this what you meant kerouac?

DD and I bought some at Monoprix. I am early 40's and wear makeup, but definitely not bright bold colors and I found some of this that I love. So there are some for everyone, from what we saw.

Thanks mms. I will be spending a month in Paris...all play no work...I will be checking it out. I have been to Paris three times and never done much shopping and never been to Monoprix. Last year was Le Bon Marché for lingerie and BHV Homme for my husband. This year I would like to explore the shops in the 6th and Val d'Europe and La Vallée. Any comments anyone?

voirglobe--How fun to have that much time to just play:) We tend to do a lot of shopping when we are there, but the last trip is the first time we hit Monoprix. We kept going back every day or so for more stuff, lol. I was thinking about this brand. The eyeshadow I have is shades of greens and tans, not bright at all. I don't wear it often, but I really like it. When are you going? DD will be there this summer on exchange and I will come in late July. If you are there first, I would love to hear about it.
