I promise to be on my best behaviour. No fistfights, merely verbal sparring.

Cigalechanta-It would be great to see you again. Don't chide Bob for getting the name wrong, it's lucky he remembered MIT was in Cambridge.

If you absolutely promise not to enforce the current "European dress code" and allow folks who sometimes stay in, and actually enjoy, chain-type hotels to participate we may be able to make it part of a Boston weekend.

Intrepid1, if you haven't been to the hotel where the GTG is, it's a good one. IndyTravel and I attended the January Boston GTG, and stayed there. I think we both got exceptionally good rates because it was winter (and I think Indy went through Priceline). I believe the hotel is part of the Hilton/Starwood chain, as I received NWA FF miles for my stay. It's a place that really reflects MIT, and actually has a little store inside it on the 2nd floor.

Bob, thanks for the invitation! You folks are so kind and generous. Not sure I'll be able to make this one, but I'll let you know.

That is family weekend at MIT so I suggest you book early if you are planning on staying in Cambridge.

I posted my reply on the Asia board but will also post here. I am planning on flying in from Illinois for this GTG. I'm anxious to meet RMK and wife, and all of the rest of the helpful fodors posters from NE.

Is that Columbus Day weekend? I was thinking that I might want to take a short trip somewhere on the three-day weekend, so if it's that weekend, I might want to go.

I think I have to attend a 4 day meeting in Boston that week anyway, starting that day. I'll have to find out what time we have to be there (it's at the Marriott at Rose Wharf (if that's how you spell it). Please keep me posted - [email protected] - just put something relevent in the subject line so I don't delete it.

We have a very lively bunch coming to the GTG from the Asia forum. You should hop over there and read "our" thread... then you wouldn't be hesitating at all. Please come join us!

Most of Oct. is when LOTS of tourists are booked into the hotels b/c it is foliage season. Also, with so many colleges in the Boston area, I bet some will have parents' weekend at that time - not to mention parents coming to see their sons/daughters play in football games, etc. even if it isn't necessarily parents' weekend. They too will be booking rooms. Nov. might be a better time for the meeting for the above reasons and the rates will probably be cheaper at that time.
