BOSTON GTG 2013--- RESERVATIONS

IT’S TIME TO RESERVE FOR THE BOSTON GTG, 2013---October 11-13, 2013.

Please indicate by return mail how many attendees you expect for each event.

Hotel: Marriott Residence Inn, 275 Norwood Park South, Norwood, MA 02062; 781-278-9595.
A block of rooms has been set aside for us at a special rate of $125.+. Held under the name of “Fodors Travel-Gett Together Travel Group”. Call 800-331-3131 for reservations using this name with a DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2013. It’s really fun to all be staying at the same place. Last year the place was full, so book early.

Friday night 6PM onwards: Kimball’s, 9 Ridgeway Avenue, Needham, MA 02492; 781-449-0903. Exit 18 off of Rte 128 (rte 95)—drive one mile WEST from the exit, turning right two houses after Gulf station (ignore “residents only” sign). First house on right. Bring your favorite beverage. $20 or less per person, depending on our costs. Buffet dinner. I wonder if we will find more empty wine bottles this year than we did last year.
We will have a guest speaker to dazzle us with stories.

Saturday GTG 11AM. Olivadi Restaurant, 32 Guild Street, Norwood, MA 02062; 781-762-9090.
Located at the edge of Norwood Square, there is plenty of on street parking (do not park in the lots behind the restaurant or next to it—both are private). Price $40. per person. This year we will try the buffet: chicken picatta with wine sauce and pasta, plus pistachio and horseradish encrusted salmon with potatoes and veggies. Please let me know if you require a vegetarian meal. All are served with a salad, dip, dessert and coffee. As usual, a cash bar is waiting for you with a tab run waiter service.

We will try to make more room available for our initial greeting period before we are seated to begin the more formal part of the GTG. Again, we have the whole restaurant.

The subject which we want everyone to speak briefly to after their self-introduction is: MY BUCKET LIST (future travel wish list). Since this is Craig’s suggestion, he will be asked to speak first to set the tone.

Saturday Post-GTG dinner 6PM. Jasper White’s Summer Shack, 850 Providence Hwy (Rte 1), Dedham, MA 02026 (Rte 1 north, 1 block north of the Legacy Place Mall); 781-407-9955. Parking in the rear gained from side street just before the restaurant. This is your chance to have some lobster or other sea-food. For veggie meals we will need advance notice.
The special group menu offers tons of choices: clam chowdah or green salad; then you choose fish of the day, fried clams, fried shrimp, crab cakes, ribs, steak, veggie special or another one or two options, plus a dessert, all of which you will select from your server. Price includes soda, coffee or tea. We will be seated in a special section of the bar where the cash bar will be available for you. The restaurant is about 2-4 miles north of the hotel on the same main road. $45. per person, inclusive.

We look forward to seeing each of you, including a number of new people. It’s always so much fun to see people from previous years and for all of us to greet new folks on their first visit. We always have a great time and learn so much from other folk’s travel experiences. Again this year we expect folks from as far as HI and FL and IL and CA and CT and NY and MA and a few surprises too. I even hear of two people riding in on a camel.

SO, LET US KNOW YOUR PLANS BY RETURN MAIL TO ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
