Boscolo Grand Hotel, Lyon

Has anyone stayed at this hotel before?
We are thinking to book 2 nights in November and would like to know if it's in a good location and is it a good hotel.

I've not stayed at the hotel itself but I believe it's quite well located, just off the bustling, pedestrianised Rue de la République, near the Cordeliers metro. It seems to be pretty central for everything (shopping, eating, sightseeing...), and is within easy walking distance of the old town and main restaurant districts.

Hi,
Yes I have stayed here and it is and excellent hotel. It is located in the old town and is one block from the promanade. Lyon is a fabulous city and if you enjoy eating you will be well served. We ate at Paul Bocuse and at La Tassee (close to the hotel they will give you directions at the desk I'm sure). Dinner at Bocuse "L'Auberge Du Pont De Collonges" is more than a dinner. (www.bocuse.com) La Tasse is a Wine shop and restaurant and is fantastic. Enjoy youselves.

I saw the Boscolo Hotels website and all of their hotels look great! This one in Lyon looks really good. Good to consider if one is visiting Lyon.

I stayed at this hotel in June. It is in a good location as mentioned by the other posters. The rooms are decent but kind of worn. As I recall, it looked like a favorite hotel of tours. There is a Sofitel near by that looked a little nicer and where I would probably stay next trip to Lyon. By the way, if you are driving be sure to get detail directions as finding the hotel can be tricky. The map furnished by the hotel interenet site doesn't provide enough detail.

It's good to have opinions of people who have actually stayed at a particular hotel. In this case, what Raymond has reported about the rooms doesn't match what the hotel website shows.
