Borough Market Happenings
Just received my Borough Market News Letter and see quite a lot is going on around that area.
Work has already begun in earnest on the Thameslink Extension project in Borough Market, so far out of the public eye.
The project is due to be completed at the end of 2011 and involves a new railway viaduct cutting through Three Crown Square. A significent number of traders are being relocated to the refurbished Jubilee Market, north of The Floral Hall. The new roof on this market will be constructed of a special plastic similar to that used on the Eden Project.
In the new year demolition will begin on 2-4 Bedale street, currently home to Gastronomica, Neal's Yard Remedies and Prontaprint. The Wheatsheaf Pub on Stoney street will be closing down.
The Parmesan Cheese Company is showcasing a special cheese on 21-22nd November, produced by Umberto Avanzini on his farm in the foothills of the Parma Appenines.
On 17th December between 4-8pm KaseSwiss are gathering in Three Crown Square with other cheesemongers to sample, discuss and sell their fine array of European cheeses.

Is the Borough Market still operational?
Of course! I was just there 3 weeks ago.

Is there a bus from Knightsbridge area or from Covent Garden area?
You can take bus RV1 from Covent Garden. Probably will need to change buses if you leave from Knightsbridge.
When is best time to visit?
Most stalls on Saturday, but go early (around opening time). It gets crowded as it gets later.

Hi Julie,
I have absolutely no idea how I happen to get the newsletter but can only think that I must have gone to their website - YK has given you a brilliant link - and subscribed free.
We thought the market would open really early in the morning but not so! Just happened to be there on 1st May this year and it was very interesting with little green men running all over the place!
