Border of St Galen Swiss and Austria, things to do

I'm off to that point where Switzerland, Austria and Germany meet for 10 days to see family. What should we do? Where should we go? I've circled the Bodensee, seen the aquarium and the Zepplin museum. What else?

Hi BB,

Have you been to Unteruhldingen? Lindau? Friederichshafen? Stein am Rhein? Fuessen?

((I))

May have to go enfamille to the Opera at Bregenz,

Going on Friday

Cheese road sounds interesting, Lichtensein would be new as would Davos etc,

I've bagged Lindau and Friederichshafen

Good ideas, I'll dig in

I think you are pretty close to the alpine resorts of St. Anton and the valley up to Lech!(rt. 198)

There is an area near Dornbirn that has a hiking gorge (I think it is called Rappenloch.

I just wanted to say thanks for the advice (though a little tardy). We spent the week driving south into the hills visiting small villages, high bridges and St Gallen (with a good lace museum).

We took the train into Lichtenstein and bicycled back to Au, (had to take a small mortgage to buy a sandwhich in Lichtenstein). We also visited Ulm which has some good shopping and a very attractive middle ages town hall, river side city wall and artisan area. I also walked up the mountain next to Au which allowed me to do the whole "hills are aloud with the sound of bilbo" thing.

A word of warning though, Au is on the Austrian border so we were able to eat and drink there, I have no idea what the swiss do who are any distance from the border. Certainly the affect of the strong swiss franc in Au had destroyed all the local bars and restaurants.
