Bordeaux Wine Country Accommodation
Hello everyone, myself and 3 others will be travelling through Europe this June and we're going to spend 3 nights in the Bordeaux area. Ideally, we would like to find accommodation at one of the many Chateaux or Wine Estates in the region. Any suggestions? We're looking for something reasonable, under 200 euro per night if possible. Any experience with accommodations in Saint Emilion or other wine towns?

We stayed in Sauternes at Chateau d'Arche 6 years ago and loved it. It's a beautiful chateau in a lovely, picturesque setting. Our Room was spacious with a nice spacious updated bathroom. Be warned, however, that there's not a ton of "service" - you get a nice tasting of the Chateau's sauternes when you arrive, and a typical French breakfast of croissants, yogurt, bread & jam, but there's no concierge or staff really. We actually liked this - it made us feel as though we were really living at the chateau. I'm not certain how expensive it is now, but at the time, I think it was around 120 euro, which I considered to be excellent value.
Sauternes was nicely situated - we did day trips to Bordeax and nearby wineries, and did some tasting in Sauternes itself. |
Hi millar; We have stayed just outside the town of Saint Emilion at this chateau. If you consider staying here, you will be treated like family. We were there for three nights and had that experience. We did a wine tour that starts in Bordeaux and picks up passengers in Saint Emilion, that includes a superb lunch. Hi M,
We very much liked our stay at http://chateau-de-roques.com/en/index.html. You might find my trip report helpful: Ira Does France (Bordeaux, Dordogne, Paris) 2005 http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...2&tid=34676645 Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
I would recommande a private holiday accommodation. It is cheaper and you will be able to leave à la française. You can check this link: http://vacancesalafrancaise.com/

Sorry for the mistake I meant "live" not "leave" ;)
