Boots made for walking?
 

Thinking of buying some comfortable walking shoes that can be worn with jeans, slacks or skirts, in otherwords, not granny sneakers! Any suggestions from all you well traveled folk?

Tons of posts on shoes... try a search on Mephisto or Joseph Siebel. Clark or Clarke also. Caveat though, most any walking shoe may not look all that great with a skirt.

Look for Clark's Zip. They are "closed back clogs" and look like boots with slacks and are very comfortable. One of the most comforable pair of shoes I own -- I wore them all over Paris and London last spring.

Julie,<BR>I actually took comfortable boots to Paris last November and they were GREAT! They were black, dressy, soft leather, almost no heel, with a little room for thick socks. I wore them with pants and long skirts; for touring and for evening dress; comfortable and water-proof and warm. Perfect. I also carried along a pair of black, clogs that were great for all of the above, plus for just around the hotel room. Have a great trip!! P.S. Take a little tin of polish.

Haven't traveled the world as much as some but for places that hit me between the eyeballs and got my undivided attention here they are in order of impact and staying power impression:<BR><BR>The Grand Canyon...sorry to dissapoint all of you who thought it should be Florence.<BR><BR>Venice and the Grand Canal...a very close second.<BR><BR>Rome and in particular St. Peters and Vatican City.<BR><BR>Prague..St. Charles bridge.<BR><BR>Ireland...Dublin, Dingle, Galway, <BR><BR>Paris the whole enchalada<BR><BR>London..likewise.<BR><BR>Normandy D-Day Beaches.<BR><BR>

Karen, do you remember the maker of those great boots?

I'm a Clarke's convert, as well. I've never had to break a pair in and I've walked all over London and Paris--cobblestones and all--and never had an uncomfortable moment.<BR><BR>For boots, I like my White Mountains. Same info as above applies (except the cobbles--a little more difficult with a heel).
