Booking Train in UK from US
I live in the U.S., and am trying to book train tickets from London to Edinburgh for a trip at the end of this month. I have tried gner.com and thetrainline.com, and cannot get the sites to complete the transaction, because they keep asking for a postcode, which I do not have (because I live in the US). I am choosing the option to pick up the tickets from a FastTrack kiosk in the station (as opposed to having them send to my home, which the cleary cannot do). What am I doing wrong? I have already missed out on the train tickets I really wanted, due to the fact that I cannot get the transaction to go through. Help!

I called GNER on the phone and they sent the tickets to me in the US.

You can purchase them from the US and pick them up before travel.
From the trainline.com website: Can you post tickets overseas? At present it is not possible to post tickets to addresses other than those within the UK. If you're booking from abroad you may be able to collect your tickets from a FastTicket kiosk at many stations including Gatwick Airport. |

As an indication of what kind of morning I'm having, I read the title for this post and thought, my God, someone thinks they can actually take a train from the U.S. to the U.K.
I think I better go home. |
