Booking Open Jaw tickets through Orbitz??? Need reassurance!!!

I have spent the last few weeks looking at every travel/airline site possible. So far, Orbitz has the best options available (Seattle to Rome and then Naples to Seattle). I would be flying NW over and then Alitalia/United back or Delta over and then Alitalia/United back. I have never booked an open jaw ticket with several different carriers on Orbitz before. Does anyone out there have good/bad experiences using Orbitz? Part of me wants to call the airline directly and pay the extra $100-$150/ticket. Please advise??? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Curious as to what fare you got. I'm planning a similar trip from SEA to FCO, CDG to SEA in October.

I'll probably close the jaw with a Venice to Paris flight on MyAir. Cost for my date is €9.99. Of course with the "add-ons" that goes to €55.42, but still affordable.

Have a great trip!

Funny you say that. I booked my first open jaw flight last night (Jackson, MS - Venice; Rome - Jackson, MS) and I had my fiance triple check to make sure I entered all the information correctly. But then again, I'm one of those "did I turn the iron off" people. Go for it mvs!

Orbitz is actually owned by a group of about five airline companies (cannot remember which ones) and it is perfectly reliable.

Once you've made the reservation you should be able to call the airlines involved and confirm (in your own mind) that your reservations are, in fact, in their various computers.

You might also try, if you haven't already, looking up the itinerary using the aggregator www.itasoftware.com or the consolidator www.onetravel.com as a double check as to the lowest fares available.

I have flown open jaw with Orbitz several times, no problems, no worries. They often have the best deal available on such tickets, and I would not hesitate to book your fare.

Orbitz is one of the largest travel agencies/sites online now. I have used them MANY of times. It's no different than booking with an airline's own website really...except it gives you all the flexibility you need.

I too have used orbitz to book several open jaw itineraries. Everything worked out fine. Go for it!

Glad to see all these positive comments. I just booked an open jaw on Orbitz. The route is from NW Ark to Venice and back from Rome in October.

Hi mvs, This just came back up-ironic as a friend of mine and I were just talking about Orbitz and Alitalia! We went to San Fran with Orbitz and I called both the hotel and airlines just to make certain that our names were in their respective systems and all was perfect. We flew (through a travel agent) on a Delta/Alitalia flight to Italy and felt that "Partners in the Air" was a bit goofy as we walked back and forth between the two counters because one's computer couldn't print out our ticket. I don't know why you should pay extra, but do call the airlines and double check your reservation. Open jaw should be no problem. Good luck!
