booking NZ 289 Munich-Florence

Everyone was so helpful getting us TO Munich, thought I'd try again!

We want to get 4 tickets on the overnight train to Florence, NZ 289, on the night of Aug 22. The italian website trentitalia.com, seems to only have options for delivery in Italy. Bahn.de remains confusing. Suggestions on how to book 4 tickets ideally for a 4-person couchette, one senior, 3 others, for the 11;40 Munich HBF to Florence SMN? Non-refundable OK with us...
thanks in advance!

now (despie Harvard/Yale education) feel like a jerk...how do i translate page to English?)!

altamiro Jul 30th, 2007 06:52 AM

I´m afraid the site has no English link I can find. No need to feel like a jerk - just as someone travelling to a country using another language.
You cannot buy night trian tickets straight through bahn.de. But you can through nachtzugreise.de - maybe using google translator?
Start with "Bitte wählen Sie" (please choose) in the left upper corner, with your destination. After that some things may become clearer.

Though you should get much better fares thru the site altamiro gives i've read some problems Americans booking those trains. If you have problems you could try www.raileurope.com which is generally more expensive as they don't offer the SPAr type online only discounts but if you can't get those they can be surprisingly cheap at times. So always check them. I always adivse calling BETS (800-441-2387) to speak to someone expert in booking these trains as www.raileurope.com site is notorious for misleading info. But try altamiro's site as it would be by far the best price if you can do it.

Hi S,

www.euraide.com are very helpful.

They have an office in Florida and can sell you tickets for the same price as in Germany + SH.

or you could just call Bahn.de-probably won't cost 75 cents.

Yes as Scatcat has done according to previous posts and save euraide.com's $40 S&H fee for the same fare.

The URL for booking night trains is http://buchung.nachtzugreise.de. (Do NOT include "www.") Click on the British flag for English. There are two Munich-Florence night trains. The discount fares are gone for the one to Campo di Marte but there still ar discount fares left for the one to Santa Maria Novella.
