Booking hotel and air together

In general is it better to book hotel and airfare as a package deal together on an online site, or to book separately--airfare first and then search for hotel prices? I want to book soon for a july trip to denmark; i am afraid prices will go up. Are flights or hotels more likely to go up in price first?

It's hard to say, but you can often get good last-minute deals in Denmark in July on hotels, particularly if you are not particular about the hotel. If you are, then book now, I say. Compare the prices you can get separately and as a package.

HI
this is like gambling or playing the stock market: no one knows for sure what will happen.

July is peak season; imo, prices are unlikely to go lower than they are now, unless something big and bad happens in the world.

Hotels have a peak season too, though that is not necessarily in July. I've seen travel packages lately from tour organizations which offer much lower-priced hotel packages for July and Aug than they do for Sept and Oct. I don't know anything about travel in Dennmark, but I'd stay flexible on hotels and explore rates on my own. As others have said, only once have I found that a hotel, when asked, wouldn't match a "discount" rate that I'd found posted elsewhere.

I was referring to air fares.

Thanks, I did some shopping around and found the price was the same to book air and hotel together. I am worried though that I didn't get "a good deal." We are going to Denamrk for 1 week in July. For air and a three star hotel (and some insurance) with tax we each paid $1332. Please tell me I did well.

I really hate to see this kind of post about asking if you "got the best price" etc., etc., because it opens you up to a myriad of replies, none of which make any difference now that you've paid.

I'll make you feel good by saying you did well because you made a decision and went with it, and THAT is what is important. If you find out that somebody else got a "better deal" then what does that do to you? Make you feel bad? stupid? ineffectual? None of these are true.

You need to be doing other things now than seeking the reassurance of a bunch of strangers...like planning what you're going to do once you get there!

have a great trip.

I guess the reason I want the reassurnace is because it took us so long to book and then we just decided in 1 day to book this package; it somehow seems so all-of-a-sudden.

It's hard to tell if it's a good deal without knowing what city you are flying from, the dates you are flying, or the hotel you got .

But enjoy Copenhagen. I like the canal tours and Roskilde in particular.

We are flying from New York, the beginning of July. We could have done this trip for cheaper, but we thought it was worth it i get travel insurance and I had a couple of hotels in mind that I was particular about.

Clarion Hotel Neptun. I picked it based on location, price, and what I read about it.
