booked reservations at the Uffizi during the middle of May

I recently went on 2 websites www.florenceforfun.org and www.weekendafirenze.com to make early reservations for May 12 and 13 for our upcoming trip. I made a reservation at the Accademia, but Uffizi was booked for both days. How is that possible? I was advised that it is possible to book the day before and get in. Do these online agencies only get a limited number of reservations for advance purchase. Will I still be able to get to see the Uffizi? Does anyone know the answer to my questions? Help!

Ira often posts instructions about how to telephone yourself for a reservation. Search for those. That's what I did, and it worked fine. I have heard that reservations are much harder to get now than they were. I would try to avoid waiting until the day before - that sounds to me like it might not work.

On a previous trip we just called from within Italy a couple days before and got time slots with no problem. However, after reading here and elsewhere that both museums were "booked" for reservations until mid May, we called this morning and got slots (we are going later in May than you so that could make the difference). It is easy to call, but we were on hold 10-15 minutes (still cheaper at my friend's long distance rate than paying the on-line booking fees). If you type in Uffizi in the search box you can find information on the phone number.
good luck

Thank you for the info. I will try to call and make the reservation. It sounds like a better idea.

pka-Earlier this week I checked for availability at the Uffizi, but it was sold out until May 25, according to weekendfirenze.com. Today we received an e-mail from Anna, one of the owners of Relais Cavalcanti where we'll stay while in Florence, and she was able to reserve tickets for us to visit the Accademia on May 19, but she said the Uffizi was booked until 5/27. Uggh.

Hi pka,

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 1.60 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.

Thanks for the telephone nos. for the Uffizi........are the times you posted U.S. or Italy? (that they're open).

Florence time.

http://www.florenceart.it/booking/?goto-uffizi-ticket appears to have tickets for the days you want. They charge double for using the service, but at least you will have tickets.

I just called the Uffizi reservations number. They still had times open on the 27th of May (starting at 8 something), but everything before that was sold out.

I successfully followed Ira's advice above for reservations at the Academia, Bargello, and Uffizi in the third week of June (Thank you, Ira). Apparently the reservation fee has gone up,though, as the women I talked to told me the reservation fee is 3 euro per person per museum. Still beats the price of the online services.

I just tried bookings for 29th May for both the Accademia and the Uffizi. While the Accademia was available the Uffizi is not.

So I guess I now have no options but with agencies would might have previously bought tickets.

DIFFICULT TIME BOOKING RESERVATION FOR UFFIZI

anyone know how i can book a reservation for Uffizi? I am calling 055 294883 and it says that it doesn't open until 8:30. It is already 9 am and I keep getting their machine that says they are closed. Then it just plays music after that. Does the music mean I'm on hold? I would think it would just hang up if the museum was closed, but it doesnt. Help!!!!!!

Is it possibly an obscure Italian holiday today? I phoned once in early December when it was the Feast of St. Anne or something that I would never think of, and I got a recording in Italian. I'm not sure it was exactly what you got.

Hi CT,

Try again after lunch, about 2:30 Florence time.

If you are trying to book for June, there have been several reports that the reservations are sold out, unless you go with a commercial firm.

We too tried all week to get reservations to no avail at the Uffizi. We even called the hotel we are staying at and they were unable to help. Live and Learn! We will live just the Accademia and soak up the rest of Florence and not worry about it.

I have the same experience! I called yesterday and today (10.30am and 6pm Florence time), and the voice recording says the office is closed! And then it starts to play music. Can someone tell me if I should continue to hold!?
I'll be there mid June so I am guessing it probably is sold out. I just want to call and confirm...
