I'm a bit bummed out, but I guess we'll just have to make the best of it!

Oh, please....if it rains while you are there that means it will be raining while everybody ELSE is there, too...

How do you think they keep all those pizza trees growing...with a drought?

Actually, Intrepid1, while it's true that the pizza trees need moisture, the spaghetti trees thrive better in dry weather.

A rainy day in Italy beats a sunny day at home.

Come one, it's not likely to rain all day, every day throughout your entire trip. Cheer up!!

It will not rain in Italy because the countries entire quota of rain was used up while I was in Siena last month

Drifus,
When are you going? We're leaving in about 7 days - and I really haven't checked the weather map that much. But one time we checked it faithfully and it showed rain for the whole time. Guess what? A shower here and there and sometimes overcast, but predominately lovely weather!
Remember, forecasts are just educated guesses!

Does it rain everytime your local weather man predicts it? I think not...

Whoa - Easy there killers....I was just joking around! Actually, it is calling for rain every day we're there. I checked the cities' forecasts according to where we'll be on certain and days and there were showers clouds over every day. I'm sure we'll manage just fine because the vino still flows in the rain. It just makes packing a bigger challenge than I had thought.

I'll let you know how it goes and YES....a rainy day in Italy is far, far better than a nice day at home!

I share you worry
We leave for Greece on Saturday and the forecasts are showing a lot of rain and wind for our entire stay in Athens Oh well, I'd rather see the Acropolis in the rain and the inside of my office

Have been to europe 60+ times and it has rained almost every trip (except for 2 in Spain). And rain is more common in spring and fall all over europe. but unless you're camping it;s not really an issue. It's mostly light rain, often sporadic - not torrential downpours - and all you need is a small umbie or light jacket with hood.

I've been watching the weather forecasts too as I leave for Italy in a week with a short stop first in Zurich. It has made me a little sad as my main interest is photography, but then photographs come out well on cloudy days. I just hope it doesn't rain too much. I bought an ipod and downloaded a book I've been listening to (about seven hours worth) along with a ton of music just in case we hang around our hotels more than planned. We start in Lake Como and then we'll head to Tuscany. Not the best places to be in bad weather, but I agree that to be in Italy in bad weather is better than not being in Italy.

This won't help much, but you know, rain brings out the beautiful colors of Italy more vividly.....

This will be my 12th trip to Europe and while I have encountered some rainy weather it is usually not day after day downpours. We have taken some really cool photos in the rain in Sicily that are framed on my wall. It actually made us pay closer attention to the architecture. We ducked out of the rain and while standing in the doorway of a building...started to look up at the wrought iron details on the adjacent buildings...and the design of the cobbles in the streets and sidewalks which were all different patterns. I don't think we would have noticed all the details if we were simply sightseeing. I have learned it pays to look up and all around...there is so much more to see that we sometimes overlook than just the tourists attractions listed in the guidebooks.

Now the forecast is calling for sunshine. Geez, the weather sure can be fickle! I guess I'll just plan ahead for all kinds of weather, pack an umbrella and a smile, and hope for the best. I've been planning this trip since OCtober, so nothing is going to put a damper on our festivities! Thanks everyone for trying to cheer me up.

Who says its going to rain in Italy when you are there? One of the 10 day weather forecasts? (predicting the weather 10 days in advance is like politician's promises when thy are vote hunting). If you are coming in spring, surely it will rain a bit and the sun will shine in between the rain and there may be a cloudy day or 2. This weekend is looking like it will be sunny all over.

THere is no rhyme or reason to weather reports concerning Italy. Don't stress about what you can't change!! Enjoy, and I will bet that the weather will beat your expectations!!
