In Rome on Via Veneto is a cappuchin church across from the Hard Rock Cafe and near Piazza Barbarini. It's in the basement of the church. I under stand there's another in Spain. M.

I have several postcards from the same place in Rome. There are also bone sculptures in Evora, Portugal, and outside of Prague in the Czech Republic. Creepy, yet fascinating stuff.

Actually, the bones in Rome do not all belong to the monks, if my memory serves me correctly. I believe they actually belong to wealthy families of Rome, including the DeMedicis. I can't remember all the details, but that's just an aside.

I've heard of "Monkey Bones," but not Monk Bones. Maybe Tim Burton can do a remake?

So glad to know these bones are still there - I saw them in 1960 at a Cappuchian Monastery and do have the postcard to prove it. Don't know where it actually is, other than Rome, because we were taken there by some guys who wanted to show us a good time! And, it was fascinating but macabre.
