Bologna, Urbino, Spello, Ascoli Piceno - How does this sound?

I'm planning a last minute trip to Italy in April and have mapped out a tentative itinerary. I have taken many trips to Italy before, so I have seen much of it.

Bologna - 2 nights
Urbino - 1 night
Spello - 3 nights
Ascoli Piceno - 1 night
Fly home from Rome

My questions - does this seem interesting? Does anyone know of any hotels or restaurants on this route? Has anyone been to Ascoli Piceno? Is it worth a journey? Any must sees along the route? Has anyone stayed in the following hotels; Palazzo Bocci in Spello - San Domenico in Urbino, Palazzo Guiderocchi in Ascoli? Any recommendations for Bologna - in the center (about $200)?

Thanks for any and all advice and suggestions. Barb

I stayed at Hotel Roma in Bologna for two nights last week. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable business-type hotel. Our room, on the top floor, had a large bedroom and separate bathroom and sitting area. Double room is 150 euro with breakfast and taxes. The location is super..a few steps south of the main square. See my food report for notes on eating in the city.

Sounds to me as thought you're attempting a lot in a short time. I think you can visit Ascoli Piceno (a worthwhile place, BTW) from Urbino.

You might look into La Bastiglia in Spello. Great views and an adventurous kitchen.

I second the recommendation for the Roma in Bologna. I will be flying into Bologna on my upcoming trip, spending 2 nights in Faenza, 2 nights at the Guiderocchi in Ascoli, then on from there. I think you've got a great trip planned!

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll try the Hotel Roma.

Holly, Do you know anything about the Guiderocchi? Have you stayed there before? Barb

This will be my first visit to Ascoli. I didn't find many hotels online to choose from, and this looked to be the best.

Thanks, Holly. Anyone else. How about the San Domenico in Urbino?
