Bologna Eats?

I hate asking and asking questions but you all are a HUGE help!!

I'm planning on being in Bolgna from March 8th to the 15th in 06'.

What I'm looking for obviously is your reccomendations for food from cheap eats(pizza) to your favorites for scenery.

Also since this is a suprise trip for the wife for her 40th(which is the 8th) I'm looking for the "perfect" resuarant, her dream is italy. She loves wine but not seafood if that helps.

(also for what its worth we are staying in villa for free(cant beat that price!!) so maybe making a meal or two?)

Well, Bologna is a foodie's delight! My favorite restaurant (and I am sure you will be inundated with similar responses here) is Diana's. I would lovelovelove to have dinner there for any special occasion, or even not so special!

Definitely check out the big indoor market. I'm not sure of the name, but it was a foodie's delight.

We had a great night at a jazz club called Cantina Bentivoglio. The food was decent for a club, and the jazz and atmosphere were great.

I loved the church/monastery called San Stefano (or something like that) with all of the different rooms and courtyards.

I wonder, is boloney - properly called 'bologna' after the town, a specialty in Bologna? Seems not from what i've seen - more in keeping with Germany. But obviously once was a specialty of the town. And this is not a bunch of bologna!

"Bologna" is indeed a speciality in Bologna, but it is called "mortadella."

We tried these restaurants while in Bologna this past February. If I had to choose one it would be Al Cambio, excellent food, service, atmosphere and full of locals. You need to take a taxi to get here but it is a short inexpensive ride and worth it.

God morning, have enjoyed two which are close to the Pza Maggiore.
1. TRATTORIA DA ADOLFO, Corte Galluzzi, 7, small ma-pa operation,
might suggest reservations. 2. LA MELA, via De Fusari, 5, a fairly good
pizzera, but very good on their fish
dishes. Richard of LaGrange Park, IL.
