Bologna -

I have a friend who lives in the town Loreto which is 2 km from
Bologna It. Would this be a day trip from Rome? and as Loreto appears to be a very small township, does anyone on the site have any idea if a bus etc might run between these small towns? My friend is an invalid and we missed seeing her earlier this year and would like to make and all-out effort next year. Thanking you in anticipation

Thanks Ira. I had found the timetable but it doesnt tell me if it is a feasable day trip. We can only spare one day on this trip as we are booked into the Scavi in Rome and we have to work around it. Cheers Pawsha

It does tell you if it is a feasible day trip if you plug in dates and discover the length of trip and trains available.

My fake weekday round trip:

dep Roma Termini 7:36 [alternate train 9:36]
arr Loreto 11:47 [alternate train 13:46]
duration: 4 hours 11 minutes

last reasonable return train:
dep Loreto 18:06 (which is 6:06pm)
arr Roma Termini 22:57 (which is 10:57pm)
duration: 4 hours 51 minutes

Only you can decide if 9 hours of travel is feasible to enjoy a 6- to 8-hour visit with you friend.

Many thanks for your help. We may have to re-think our plans. After a 22 hr flight to Rome I dont know if my jet-lagged brain could take all that extra travel especially since we are on a quick trip this time and will be returning home in 10 days. Cheers Pawsha
