Bodensee accomodations
Anyone have any thoughts regarding places to stay - B&B's or hotels ($140/night) - around Bodensee?<BR><BR>Looking at Lindau and Konstanz or St. Gallen area on the Swiss side.
|
One more thought, we're looking for places that are on the lake or within walking distance. Thanks!

The Washington Post Travel Section last Sunday had a feature on the Bodensee. Go to www.washingtonpost.com, to the travel section and you can find the article. Might be helpful.

Hi there, <BR> <BR>my favorite town at the lake is Meersburg. A little touristic (but so are all), but the old part of the town realy is it. <BR> <BR>You can take a look into the www, unfortunatly they dont care for english language, but You may handle it. <BR> <BR> <BR>Meersburg: <BR>http://www.meersburg.de/02tourismus/...mus_index.html <BR> <BR>favorite: Hotel Baeren, very charming <BR> <BR> <BR>Lindau: <BR> <BR>http://www2.dtg.de/intours/log.asp?l...66lin&topic=UK <BR> <BR>Konstanz: <BR> <BR>http://www.konstanz-tourismus.de/ser...tsteile&ort=20 <BR> <BR> <BR>favorite: <BR>http://www.barbarossa-hotel.com/de/barbarossa-de.html <BR> <BR>To walk from St. Gallen to the lake maybe take You a while, it is about 15 km. But dont miss the monastier and the libary – breathtaking. <BR>

I agree with the above poster about the Barbarosa, that and the Graf Zepplin hotel (both are on that web site above in Konstanz) are within walking distance of everything, in the middle of the fussganger platz and are comfortable and nice. There is also the Insel hotel, but it is very pricy (but is very nice). The Volapuk is right outside Konstanz and is nice, but is more out of the way. I'm so jealous - have a wonderful time on the Bodensee, don't forget to check out the monastary in St Gallen, the Munster in Konstanz (and the University there if you have time - very unusal) and the Rathaus in Konstanz!
