Bodenheim or Hattensheim?

We are looking for advice on where to stay our last three nights in Germany next May.
We want to stay near Mainz and have found two towns that both look appealing - Hattenheim on the Rhine, and Bodenheim, just south of Mainz. The Zum Krug in Hattenheim looks quaint - which I like, but Bodenheim looks nice as well. Have any of you experienced travelers stayed in those towns, and specifically at Zum Krug? Which do you recommend? (We want to visit Mainz, Worms, and the Rhine area before flying home from Frankfurt)
Thanks so much for your thoughts, which are always so helpful!
Barbara

I should add that we would like to find a quaint, traditional place. Thanks again.

Barbara- though I have not stayed there I have heard many good comments about Battenheimer Hof - a small country Inn on a wine estate in Bodenheim. There website is "battenheimerhof.com". While you are in the area try some local wine from the Roter Hang ("red slope") a particular red slate soil found in that part of Rheinhessen. Try the Gunderloch winery in nearby Nackenheim. They also have an excellent restaurant. Hattenheim is on the other side of the Rhine a little farther from Mainz and probably more "touristy".

Thanks so much, CharlieB - we have reservations for Battenheimer Hof at your recommendation. I couldn't find their email address on their webpage, but did find it in the ViaMichelin hotel guide...Thanks for the wine advice as well. How did you know I love wine?

I have stayed at Battenheimer Hof and really enjoyed it. They have a neat little restaurant in their wineceller and serve very tasty wine. The hotel part was very comfortable and had a good breakfast. They have lots of tables outside under a large tree overlooking their courtyard. I hope it is warm enough for you to sit out and visit. The owners also happen to be distant cousins of mine.
