BOB THE NAVIGATOR - HELP 2

Bob,

I'm going on a one day trip from Milan to Bellagio. Then, I intend to go straight to Stresa or Baveno (I don't mind travelling at night).

The most important thing is to be in L Maggiore in the morning so I can take the ferry to I. Borromee and Bella.

How long would my trip from Bellagio to Stresa take?

Do you recommend me staying in another town?

Thanks.

Topping again...would like to give advice but since only Bob will do...

I don't know if you posted a "Bob the Navigator - Help 1" or not... (I can't find any such post)...

But this is absolutely NOTy the way to use this forum.

You can mention a specific individual by name (though I recommend against it) in the message header, if you wish... but by far, more important is to mention the information - - and DESTINATIONS - - for which you are seeking help.

Far better would be to use a message header like:

"Seeking advice on visiting Stresa/Lago Maggiore, following a one day trip to Bellagio".

Best wishes,

Rex

Budman, Dukey, Rex: would you help me too? : )

I'm truly sorry, guys..I just saw a post like this an decided to give it a shot.

Now, since you "bumped" into my message even though it's poorly directed, would you mind giving me a hand?

Forgive me. I'm new to this Fodor's world. Won;t happen again.

Relax, Brazilliantraveller---it's really not that uncommon to see an appeal to a specific person in a message heading. It's about the only way to make sure he or she sees it, and nobody else minds. :)

Mapquest.com shows travel from Bellagio to Stresa is a little under 2 hours by car. ((b))

We were staying about 30 minutes north of Stresa last week, and planning on a trip to Bellagio (cancelled because of weather.) Our host told us that it would take about 3 hours. This includes taking a car ferry across Como from Bellagio to Menaggio, and then across Maggiore from Laveno to Intra. These two sites may be helpful:
www.mappy.com, and
www.navagazionelaghi.it for ferry schedules.

BTW, Isole Borromee is the name for the collections of 3 islands, Isola Bella, Isola Madre, and Isola Pescatore. There is no I Borromee per se.

sorry, that should be navigazionelaghi.it

<< Forgive me. I'm new to this Fodor's world. Won;t happen again. >>

You were instantly forgiven. It's not about getting an apology from you. It's my point (and not all agree with it) - - that re-posting is the solution... and let this thread drop.

<< ... and nobody else minds... >>

That could be said about cutting in line, or weaving in and out of traffic.

Not that big a deal, for one person to do.

But it does "send a signal" that it would be okay for everybody to do.

I comment on inappropriate headers, lest "the top 50" end up looking like this someday...

1. Help
2. A question for ita...
3. Do you know?
4. Having trouble choosing
etc.

Message headers are one key to the successful operation of the forum. Anarchy of the forum, through meaningless mesasge headers, would be a huge turn-off to veterans and newbies alike.

Losing the newbies would be the greater loss here. They're the lifeblood of the site.
