Boats/Hydrofoil/Train help! Also what to do in Rome?

We have our itinerary set--finally! We just need help from the seasoned travelers with a few final details.

We plan to try and visit Caserta and Herculaneum in the same day and want to take a train from the Amalfi Coast. Does anyone know how/what trains to take and from where? We are based in Conca dei Marini.

We want to take the first available boat/hydrofoil to Capri on another day. Does anyone know what boat line to take and a schedule?

On a separate day we want to take a boat to Positano & Amalfi--any idea on where we can do this from and a schedule?

Finally, we have 2 nights in Rome at the end of our trip, staying at Hotel Regno, which is located a short distance Trevi Fountain, in the history district. We haven't planned anything for Rome! Does anyone have any restaurant suggestions for that area?

As always, thanks in advance!

for Herculaneum you could take a boat or bus to Sorrento then hop on the CircumVesuviana train to Ercolo, the modern-day Herculaneum and the ruins are a short stroll down towards the sea from the train station. You can then take the train to Naples Centrale to catch a train to Caserta - from Caserta either reverse your journey or perhaps better to take a train to Salerno then hop a boat or bus back to your Amalfi digs.

www.trenitalia.com for train schedules Naples - Caserta - Salerno

http://www.capri.com/en/orari-traghetti for boats to Capri - many go from Sorrento, less so depending on season from Amalfi, Positano, etc.

Amalfi Coast buses circulate about every 20 mins between Salerno, Amnalfi, Positano and Sorrento

The CircumVesuviana train likewise runs about twice an hour Sorrento - Ercolo - Naples Centrale

there are trains about every 15 mins it seems from Naples Centrale to Caserta - and they take 30 to 40 mins - most are regional trains you just board - no reservations possible.

Boat services from the Amalfi coast depend on the time of year and the weather. None of them runs in winter, though there are regular all-year services from Sorrento to Capri. In summer, there will be boats from both Amalfi and Positano.

For Ercolano, the Circumvesuviana station is called Ercolano Scavi.

At Caserta, if I want to walk the long promenade only one way, is there a bus stop near the furthest end of the promenade?

Thanks everyone for your input! We leave on Friday and I think we have all the details covered.

We're based in Conca Dei Marini the first week and Orvieto the second.

Any last minute suggestions, restaurant recommendations, etc?
